A dance for life - a charity night for the CliniClowns

When the doors of the Hofburg open on January 31, 2026 for the 74th edition of the Vienna Medical Doctors' Ball, the stage will once again be set for a night of joie de vivre and humanity. Under the motto “A dance for life - a charity night for the CliniClowns”, the Hofburg will be transformed into a circus full of fantasy and joy - all in the name of those who heal with humor every day: the CliniClowns. As every year, the 74th Doctors' Ball also focuses on charity. The net proceeds benefit the work of the CliniClowns, who bring laughter to hospitals, care homes and psychosocial institutions where it is needed most.
"The Vienna Medical Doctors' Ball is much more than a glamorous social event - it is a strong sign of our social commitment as a professional association. Especially in times when mental health and holistic care are becoming increasingly important, we want to use this event to consciously send out a signal for medicine that sees people as a whole. That is why we chose the CliniClowns, who make a valuable contribution to healthcare - especially for our youngest patients - through laughter and joie de vivre. The Doctors' Ball is a celebration of encounters, of music - and in its 74th edition in particular: a celebration of laughter. We cordially invite you to join us in doing good," emphasizes Johannes Steinhart, President of the Vienna Chamber of Physicians, on the importance of charity at the Vienna Medical Doctors' Ball.

Laughter as medicine: The Vienna Medical Doctors' Ball as a celebration of joy
Isabella Clara Heissenberger-Mass, ball officer of the Vienna Medical Doctors' Ball, also emphasizes the socio-political aspect of the charity ball: "As a specialist in paediatrics and adolescent medicine, I see every day how important emotional support is in the healing process - that's why it's a matter close to our hearts to focus on this commitment this year. The CliniClowns don't just put a smile on faces - they give comfort, strength and often also that decisive spark of courage to face life, which we want to celebrate with the 74th Vienna Medical Doctors' Ball. Supporting the CliniClowns is a commitment to holistic medicine that takes laughter, empathy and hope just as seriously as diagnostics and therapy. With the Vienna Doctors' Ball, we show anew every year that the well-being of our patients - especially the youngest ones - is close to our hearts."

"CliniClowns Austria will be celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2026, marking 35 years of clown therapy in Europe. It is therefore a special privilege for us that the net proceeds of the Doctors' Ball 2026 will be dedicated to the work of CliniClowns Austria in order to ensure continuity in the care provided by our specially trained team. As pioneers of humor therapy, the CliniClowns have been visiting sick children and adults as well as geriatric patients since 1991. Every year, 73 CliniClowns regularly visit chronically ill patients on around 150 wards in hospitals and nursing homes during 1,700 visits, providing hope, cheerfulness and courage to face life even in difficult and challenging phases of life. We are delighted to use this evening to ring in our anniversary year and thank the ball committee, visitors and donors for their appreciation of our work. Thank you for making our mission possible, with the aim of being there for others together," says Eva Radinger, Managing Director of CliniClowns Austria.

The ball committee promises a ball night full of circus magic and unforgettable moments: With show acts, productions and a ball program that combines acrobatics, music and dance.

Tickets for the 74th Vienna Doctors' Ball go on sale in September. It pays to be quick - the ball sells out quickly every year.
